This early 1940's cutie pie is from Betty Barclay, see below for info on this label. It's a sweet pinafore style with shoulder pads and short sleeves. I love the blue and white buttons closing the front. The peplum and pinafore ruffles are trimmed in white eyelet. It has a darted bodice and a slightly gathered skirt that falls from a set in waistband in back. Metal side zipper closure. 

I found a little treasure trove of late 1930s-early 1940s cotton printed vintage dresses and this is one of them- never worn though we did clean them. 

Makes me think of some of the rich, lovely, vintage movies of late such as " The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society" and " Breathe"- breathtaking vintage costuming!

Betty Barclay was not an actual person, but was just a name made up for this mid-priced line of ready-to-wear dresses. The company was owned by the Jonathan Logan company, one of the largest clothing manufacturers in the USA. In 1955 German textile maker Max Berk acquired the German license to make Betty Barclay dresses for the European market. In 1972 the company was bought by the German branch, and it is still in operation today.
